Application blocked by Java Security

Browser:  IE11

Applications:  Argos, Automic  (this FAQ may help for other applications with the same issue)

>>>Argos

Problem:

https://maps.southwest.tn.edu/

After clicking on the 'Argos' application button link an error is encountered:  Application Blocked by Java Security.

Solution:

1. Open 'configure java' application.

2. Click on security tab.

3. Under 'Exception Site List', Click on 'Edit Site List'

4. Click 'Add'

5. Type in 'https://maps.southwest.tn.edu'

6. Click 'Ok', 'configure java' application will close.

7. Close IE and re-open.

8. Try Argos application link again.  There will be a few pop-up boxes that you can click the checkboxes so they do not appear again.

>>>Automic

Problem:

http://mdeltap.southwest.tn.edu:5051/AMPROD/Intro.html

Click 'Start the Applications Manager Client'.  The browser asks you to download client but when you click 'Open' it does NOTHING.  The file does not appear to work.

Solution:

1.  When client was downloaded the browser changed the file name from client.jnlp to client_jnlp.

2. Go to download folder and change file name back to client.jnlp

3. Do not run client.jnlp at this time.

4. Open 'configure java' application.

5. Under 'Exception Site List', Click on 'Edit Site List'

6. Click 'Add'

7. Type in 'http://mdeltap.southwest.tn.edu:5051'

8. Go back to downloads folder and run client.jnlp file (double click it or right-click open)

9. There will be a few pop-up boxes that you can check the checkboxes so they do not appear again.

10.  After it has run successfully, then go back to 'configure java' application

11. Click 'General' tab.

12. Click 'View' button.

13. You'll see the automic program, right-click it and choose 'Install Shortcuts'.  This will place a shortcut to the program on the user's desktop.  The user will need this shortcut to access Automic, because the link in IE will never work because IE changes the file name.

14. Click 'Ok', 'configure java' application will close.

>>>Banner

Problem:

Browser responds there is a problem with website when trying to load Banner INB.

Solution:

Be sure the IE compatibility is on.

1. On IE menu click "Tools"

2. Click on "Compatibility View Settings"

3. Ensure "Display Intranet sites in Compatibility View" is checked.
